Pros

The people are pretty great. Not any of management, but the other operators and maintenance hands (the ones the plant manager hasn’t laid off) are about all this place has left. This used to be a great site to work at, even during the hard times it was still a great place to be.

Cons

Current plant manager hates operators, tries to make employees lives miserable. Cuts the yearly bonus to ensure he receives his. Cuts all overtime. Demoralizes operators daily. Lays off maintenance and puts even more work on operators. All of the cons would be fixed if the current plant manager(C.E.) was to leave. The quality of work life is absolutely squashed by the plant manager who does not care for operators and maintenance, yet these are the people that keep this place running.

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Usually get a cost of living raise and bonus every year. Opportunity for advancement. This used to be a great company to work for.

Cons

Fabricate positions which rob from the numbers of working hands in the field. All overtime has been drastically cut to the point that shifts are Permanently working short handed with no senior operators on site. Training coverage is not being provided at all. This is making the work place extremely unsafe due to a lack of proper manning and experience. Maintenance jobs for technicians have skyrocketed. You are expected to be multi craft including instrument tech work, millwright work, pipefitter work, and hydro blasting. All while being short handed and with little to no training on such work. The amount of red tape you have to go through to get anything done causes unrealistic time constraints on tasks as simple as unlocking a pump or walking out a permit. The current leadership regime is operating with a fear mongering campaign. Threatening to fire anyone who makes a mistake. Everyone is job scared and it is turning everyone against each other. The level of competition to keep your job is malicious, and moral is at an all time low. They took 3 supervisors that were at home and had no affiliation with a particular incident and put them on a FINAL NOTICE, on their day off at their homes.
