      Good engineering driven company to work for

      Pros

      Synopsys is a very ethical company and treats employees and customers well for the most part. The pay scales are quite good and the work environment is very engineering driven, which is a huge plus for R&D Engineers and CAEs. There are lots opportunities to grow and become a technical expert in your chosen areas of expertise. Politics is quite minimal compared to other mid to large size companies.

      Cons

      The EDA industry is quite mature and opportunities for growth in the industry have to be quite conservative. So if you prefer being in a high growth industry this may not be your cup of tea.

      Pros

      Synopsys employees are smart and intellegent. It provides environment that allows for driven individuals to excel. The senior management is well respected in the industry and are fantasticlly motivational leaders. The company is stable and has weathered the ups and down of the valley with remarkable consistancy. Employees are treated with respect and promotion from within is encouraged. The rateable license model has setup Synopsys such that 90% of the revenue is booked before the quarter has started, making the business extremely stable and predictable

      Cons

      The limited market landscape of the EDA limits high growth of stock. Bascially there a few companies trying for slices of the same pie which shows the long term growth of the stock

      Pros

      Calm and measured atmosphere; good people, stimulating work, and great benefits! The place is proof that A players aren't always cutthroat, type-A jerks. Very friendly folks, if a bit staid. It also pays very well in an industry, Electronic Design Automation, known for paying pretty well

      Cons

      Very conservative - "consensus driven to a fault" is almost a motto. Many have left to do their own startups in order to advance an idea that that was too "risky" - having sai that , the model seem to be successful, but it may not be for everybody, especially if you are Type-A personality!
