Pros

Training was given well (one day) and simple work. Got to look at new stock. Swapping shifts was easy.

Cons

Pretty boring and can get dragging. Hated wrapping up the most random, massive stuff like a 1m tall statue or something.

Pros

Free expired or damaged food, staff discount if you use it, training in your own time via Workjam. A handful of nice people.

Cons

No support at tills, if you're there more than a few years they dump you on tills all the time to let newbies on shop floor. Experience is disregarded, qualifications are disrespected. Favourites are praised and preferential treatment of job distribution, as in they don't have to go on tills or fitting room. Jobs are biased, intranet representation is biased towards one specific race after the whole BAME thing (I'm coloured myself, but ethic minority is not equally represented). Team leaders have poor management skills and often left to run teams who favour their friends. Promotion is based on who can stroke the ego of the ones above in the hierarchy. Back gossiping is the key to getting you favourable treatment. Hours are contacted between 8-20 hours all the rest is overtime regardless of whether you want it or not. Hours are favourable for mothers and students with fixed timetable, anyone else gets dreadful schedules. Temporary ok, think carefully if you can commit longterm. The holidays for working extra is a hoax, managers book holidays whenever like day off, not down to your own choice. Loss prevention and team leaders doesn't do anything but spread gossip and harassment, they stand around chatting all the time. I worked hard and all team leaders did was favour really lazy staff and spread rumours. I was told I didn't have experience, when I had the most experience and qualifications in all areas of the store. Homesense staff get special treatment, despite not even able to cook, put these people on home section. Promotions happen when staff leave, which is practically rare, there are staff who think there is opportunities and career development. Its the same with any company, somebody along the hierarchy has to leave first before opportunities are available.
