Thank you for the review! We love our extensive array of perqs too. We are always looking to supply our employees with perqs that best support their work/life balance — particularly important in this time of pandemic. While TCG has been telecommuting by default for 27 years, it’s now harder to separate home from work when there isn’t as much to do during non-work times. So we do what we can to make it easier for our employees to spend time with their friends and relatives. For example, TCG just sent COVID-19 home testing kits to TCGers and family members in their households so that they can feel comfortable during gatherings during the 2021 holiday season. We continue to look for ways we can improve the lives of our employees and our communities. You’re absolutely right — this is the best way for us to continue to delight our customers.

Pros

Very self-directed tech consulting firm that puts almost all of the power of your career into your hands. Employees have a great deal of latitude in their project choices and there is phenomenal work-life balance. The culture is quirky and there are a lot of unusual perqs that make things fun.

Cons

Total compensation is average with no real bonus program. It isn't always clear how to advance or get promoted. There isn't enough accountability at times.

We know career growth is vital for you. It’s also important for TCG to see you grow and develop in areas that interest you. That is why we have our annual Career Reviews - for TCGers to work with their managers and the Employee Happiness team to put a plan in place that will help you pursue your career goals. You’re absolutely right that it’s not always clear how to advance and get promoted. We’re actively working on that and our first step is the new Compensation system that we’re rolling out right now (mid-September 2021). We have high hopes for it but like everything else we do for the first time, it’s an experiment. If it fails we will do something else. If you have suggestions on times when our accountability hasn’t been up to your standards, please let your manager, an exec, HR, or Happiness know. Or put it explicitly (name names!) in one of our twice-annual employee surveys. The reality is that once a business hires its first employee, nobody will ever again know all the things that organization is doing. Sometimes we miss an opportunity for improvement unless someone points it out. Thanks for working with us to fix our blemishes!
