Pros

TD is great for work life balance and treats their employees right. Employees often stay at TD because they are comfortable with where they are at and the lives that their job helps them lead. There is significant diversity at TD, and the company is working even harder to improve it's impressive culture of inclusion, respect, and customer-focus.

Cons

The downside is that leaders at TD understand the value proposition to their employees: you like/love working here so we can afford to pay you less. Employees are recognized for exceptional work but often need to step out of their comfort zone and advocate for themselves in order to receive promotions and progress in their career. Many leaders are okay with people coasting in their job but will not reward this kind of behavior beyond the below industry average compensation that TD pays.

Frustrating

Pros

TD has a great culture and for the most part, you meet a lot of great people. They have a great benefits package and the 401k match and core contributions are nothing to scoff at. Depending upon the role you’re in, management is pretty flexible with your schedule and they’re generous with PTO, as are most banks. Every few years they even give an extra PTO day and bonuses are awarded based on performance yearly.

Cons

It’s easy to get comfortable here because the culture is great and the benefits are great, but the pay leaves a lot to be desired. It’s hard to get promoted because they constantly are doing reorganizations of various departments which causes more people to be posting for internal positions, it’s very competitive and unless you’re in with the right crowd, it’s unlikely to get the job. They claim to want to promote from within but I know many, including myself, who have been looked over for an external candidate or an internal candidate who was far less qualified. The biggest problem at TD is that management is completely disconnected and there’s no training, you’re thrown into a role with little to no support. I am disappointed to say the least as I wanted to continue my career with them for years to come, but after being promoted and not being fairly compensated as well as being bored out of my mind, I knew this wasn’t for me.

HR is a joke

Pros

Most employees are great, Management on the other hand will ask you to do things that are against policy. (Thinking its going to be another Wells Fargo law suit soon)

Cons

HR and upper management does not have your back when it comes to informing them of ethics not being followed. When you hit 200% of your goal they email store manager to find out why you are above goal and why was that goal assigned, instead of recognizing excellent sales ability. Payouts are the lowest I've ever seen at a financial institution. They have clawbacks when customers close/chargeoff accounts within 90 days which means they take away all your work (sales) for those accounts and make you double the work to catch back up. They don't run Chex Systems so that happens ALOT. Their technology lets just say is something to laugh about. Oh can't forget about their hold time for Bank Support, Fraud Management, or Collection Dept is on average an hour so you are literally helping 5 customers a day for service instead of actually making sales. Don't forget that most branches are open 7 days a week and late hours but not all departments are that you need to help with some of the customers needs.
