Culture is tough to Commodify
Pros
People do seem to truly want to invest in you as a person. TEKsystem's ranking as a top place to work is a major point of pride for the company - and I'm not going to say it's like night and day compared to other places I've worked- there is a general sense of cohesion that is rarely found at the enterprise level.
Cons
This culture and "top place to work" accolades were part of what made me accept the job. It's a nice touch - but in my opinion doesn't justify the lower wages and ability to move around the company. This job pays about 80% of what similar jobs in the area offer, and "opportunity" is a term that gets thrown around as an unquantifiable idea, rather than any concrete chances. They do promote from with in, but unless you're in the Baltimore office, that pretty much means you can move from a collections agent (or as it is put in TEK terms, a "Business Operations Associate") or sales person, to a manager of collectors or sales people. Not a lot of opportunity to explore new areas.
