Pros

There is a tremendous team atmosphere. Even though the company is spread out across the country, when you are in need of assistance there is always someone that is willing to step up and help you. The executive have a great vision and they have stuck with it over the past several years. They do not believe in the "management flavour of the month" and they invest in the development of highly talented individuals to ensure a supply chain of good management potential.

Cons

Under the skins of an entrepreneurial organization it is a telephone company and there are some lingering legacy systems and processes.

Pros

I've worked at TELUS Mobility for over two years now. There have definitely been some growing pains but I think most of them are worked out now. There was a time when I didn't think I wanted to continue working for TELUS but that has changed for the better. Management actually listens to the employees and actions ideas that will contribute to a better workplace. Every company has it's issues but TELUS actually acts on our suggestions. Improvements don't happen overnight but we do surveys each year and I have definitely seen some improvements that have resulted from those surveys. I enjoy going to work each day and my team has become my 'family' at work. There was a high turnover of employees during my first year but that has changed and I am now seeing that new employees are staying longer. I believe that is a result of the changes made by management. The morale has definitely improved during my tenure. We are paid better than other call centres and we can work as much overtime as we want. I for one, appreciate the opportunity. Overall the employers I've worked for TELUS is the first one I want to stay with long-term.

Cons

Being in a call centre environment has its downside of course. It is difficult to get time off on short notice. Just like any call centre we're monitored on so many metrics. I've just learned to do my job but not worry about the metrics. I feel doing the best I can on each call will make the metrics work out. I would also like to see us get a Health Care Spending account added to our benefits.

Pros

Originally, compensation was marvelous but after changes were made, it was more profitable to work at a futureshop type store. The one bonus is that you get to (actually, have to) subscribe to a Telus employee plan that gives you free everything for 15 dollars a month. You also get $500 of a data phone every year.

Cons

Management tends to be uneducated, hence why they are working for telus. They often feel threatened by the associates they manage because most of them are students who intend to do something more productinve with their live. To molify the feeling of inadequacy the feel, they are paid for more than they are worth. Also, unless you are completely rude to clients, or steal , you will not get fired from Telus. That sounds good in theory but what it actually means is that they are a bunch of idiots that do stupid things that should get fired. Also their hiring methods are questioning and compensation, which used to be good is not as good as it nce was. you only make money if you are doing (a lot of) new activations.
