Moving into a senior role seemed very hard to do.

It is far too difficult to get things done. Technology is decades behind competitors. Operations cares only about following their policies and procedures and gives no grace or room for flexibility and exceptions. Management is opaque and feels out of touch with the folks working on the front-lines.
