      Pros

      Very intelligent workforce and stimulating work environment. Co-workers will go out of their way to help you get up to speed. Knowledge sharing is a high priority. Resources are adequate and the workplace environment is very pleasant. Like a college campus.

      Cons

      IT is a fiefdom. They do not like to work with the business side and vice versa. TIAA seems to have a hard time realizing they are in business to make money and that they answer to clients. They seem to think that since they service college employees that they are themselves a college.

      Pros

      The pay is well above average compared to similar jobs. The employer contributions are well above average (currently 11.5%). The time off (when you can get it) is very nice, 23 days of sick/vacation pay per year.

      Cons

      Upper management is totally inept. It is like working for the government sometimes with all of the beaurocracy at TIAA-CREF. They are constantly behind the eight ball with regard to staffing needs and they push their employees beyond the breaking point but don't take the time to say thank you... I hate to whine like this but unless you are in upper management where everything smells like roses the place sucks to work at.

      The contributions to my retirement account paid in by TIAA-CREF was generous.

      Cons

      A back-biting environment; management appeared to only be interested in their recognition and bonuses.
