Pros

No positive aspects whatsoever to working here.

Cons

Absolutely the worst company I have ever worked for. I dealt with constant micro-management, outdated technology, expensive and archaic investment products, and incompetent service teams day in and day out. Malevolent and worthless management that extended to the very top of the company drives this dysfunction. The HR group snitched on and protected management as if it was North Korea and those in service and client relationship roles did everything in their power to promote themselves. The word is on the street is that this company is losing more and more plans to other providers and that their advisors are running out of clients to peddle their worthless managed product to. If you are a financial professional that prides yourself on your work ethic, integrity and ability to serve clients than look elsewhere. Regardless of what they are promising you it is not worth it. Even if you are in need of something temporary find someplace else. The number of negative reviews on this site speak volumes as to the ineptitude of this firm and no amount of explaining or enticements by current employees will replace your integrity or sanity if you decide to work here.

Pros

Great Retirement Package, Great starter job out of college. The people in the fox holes dealing with participants of TIAA-CREF everyday are great people.

Cons

Variable bonus pool is like trying to hit a moving target. Managment is so out of touch with the real world. If you are thinking about working at TIAA-CREF stop by any office first and take somebody to lunch to find about the real TC.

Pros

401A contribution. Paid for CFP. Decent salary for ultra-minimal required skill set. Great place holder to pay the bills until 'the package' was offered and promptly accepted. Many good colleagues, but with under-utilized skills. Some cool middle managers. Not accountable to shareholders for public financial scrutiny. They got us pizza once in awhile.

Cons

Super-revolving door of sr. executives over the years which is comical when viewed end to end. Larger silos than the Parthenon. Nepotism and cronyism filling the ranks of middle, sr., and executive management. So poorly run they are hemorrhaging money which is being scooped up wholesale by other FS firms. More directors with no reports than any other FS company. Toxic DEI/woke obsessed culture crippling the progress and profitability of the company. A CEO who is a pale shadow of the former with respect to economic & financial market knowledge, leadership abilities, and oratory skills.
