Pros

Great hours for retails. Mangement usually work with you on scheduling. Get 1 weekend a month off as well which was great.

Cons

Zero opportunity for advancement. Although they told me I would get training,I did not. I constantly asked about training and advancement opportunity to no avail.

Pros

Hard working and genuinely lovely associates. Hours and days of working can be pretty flexible, providing you share your availability early. A couple of the managers were good to work with.

Cons

- Expectations vs. minimum wage: Serious misalignment. They have set timings for unloading stock, the timings are basically impossible to achieve unless you're unloading onto an empty shelf (which was never the case, shelves were already overflowing all the time). You have like 10 mins to unload a full trolly that can have 50-100 items on it, then if you take longer, they say you aren't working fast enough. There were also always mixed messages about whether we should take the time to tidy stock as we unloaded new stock or just force items onto the shelf to get it out - Management: The worse management of my life. I've worked in professional corporate industries for many years (I was working at TJ Maxx after relocating to Canada and looking for work in my industry) and also have extensive management experience myself, I have never had management as bad as at TJ Maxx. One in particular spoke to associates in such a condescending manner, like you are a complete idiot. With no skills in team management or providing constructive feedback and basically unless they did the job themselves, you may as well not even bother. They constantly hovered, just waiting to flag that you're doing something wrong. It was widely known that they'd had many formal complaints made about them.
