I met a few new people! But honestly, it was just a waste of time. I have nothing good to say about the program, but moving to a new city like DC was nice.

Cons

Your working for free for 12hrs a day in the summertime. They hid a lot of things until you actually get to the program. Your going to be doing a lot of work.

Pros

If you really love teaching, want to make a difference, AND you are really good at the job, go for it. TNTP gives you the opportunity to work as a teacher right away without the longer standard process.

Cons

You get little help during your teaching and overall, if you fail at the job, you will be put in massive debt, especially if you relocated. Not to mention, little pay with a HEAVY HEAVY workload.

Pros

You get to start teaching right away.

Cons

They bombard you with extra work. Being a first year teacher is stressful, but to have them load you up with additional work adds to the stress level. They advertise as free but you really have to take out a loan and pay $6k+ then after you complete the program you get Americorp money. What they do not tell you is that if you work at a title 1 funded school you can get Americorp money either way. The only reason I am jumping through so many hoops for them is because I already paid the 6k and if I don't do what they want I won't pass the program and I lose my Americorp money.
