Pros

You feel like your agency has a real sense of purpose - to protect the public Good pay Good benefits

Cons

People (the general public) does not respect the federal govt. Good benefits- but it isn't cheap and it comes out of your check - However you never get a Dr. bill showing insurance didn't pay. People in management can make or break you - if you have poor managers it really ruins the work place!

Pros

pay(compared to regular 9-5) not compared to other fed jobs of the risks and scrutiny we took time off was accrued so it is good if you use it right there is room for advancement but it's more of a glass ceiling

Cons

-pay(lowest out of homeland security) -taboo..a lot of people at TSA are sooo cool we don't want to throw away that lotion but,and i quote "what if your mom was on that plane, and that was a bomb, someones mom is on that plane and everyone will be safer if you throw away the liquid" plus we can easily be fired for letting it pass -you get a lot of supervisors in and out and switching shits so you never know who's personality you'll get some are great people some are old angry people who think they're cops -glass ceiling. we all know the story "i started flipping patties now i own the restaurant" that's the dream they sell you at tsa if you want to make it a career you can and in 5 years you'll be supervisor about 10 years to get to a desk but it's politics, who's butt to kiss first to and i've seen upper management clique up with workers and move them along and when that management left the remaining management and their clique shunned them..get it
