Absolutely Amazing Employer

Pros

- Absolutely the smartest people I've ever met. Additionally, everyone is friendly; no big egos here. - Collaboration and innovation come first; this is not a place to just grind away time. - The company legitimately cares about its people, and works very hard to be more than "just a company" - Office space is very relaxed, a good mix of "chill" tech and down to earth. You don't stand out if you come to work in a T-shirt and shorts. And all of the office spaces I've seen, between the design, work expectations, and benefits (e.g. open, well stocked kitchens), allow for an amazing sense of freedom.

Cons

- Career opportunities can be a bit focused; long-term career growth can be a bit concerning. - Not as much flexibility work location wise as some other companies. - Can be difficult imagining working anywhere else

Aggressive growth and sights on the prize make Tableau a win

Pros

Great culture, great benefits, company wide excitement to bring an amazing product to the masses. The software itself makes it easy to get behind the Tableau mission. Executive staff is visionary, and looking to push the industry into realms it's never been. With explosive growth comes abundance of career opportunity. There is a push to keep such great talent in Tableau, and a drive to help them meet their career potential.

Cons

With aggressive growth and high expectations comes a heavy work load. Hours can be long, stress intense, and at times a sacrifice to work/life balance. Depending on the team, there can be a trickle down effect of the expectation to sacrifice your time for the company - I believe this is partly due to never really being able to hire people fast enough and fill seats (which is a good/bad situation - as Tableau will not hire just anyone, they are keen to keep hiring top class people).
