Pros

Great experience for working with the public Usually good camaraderie amongst coworkers Can be a fun place to work as long as you don't take the job too seriously

Cons

No benefits Lots of physical labor Not much to offer as far as lifelong career goals unless you're aiming for management position Working with the public (if you're not a people person) Dealing with drunk and/or belligerent customers late at night, after the bars close Dollar amount of periodic performance raises are usually very small, usually in cents rather than dollars

Pros

Not rocket science, and if you work hard you can advance even in a franchise level, but franchisees tend to make their own rules.

Cons

Low pay with lower quality applicants, that makes for a difficult environment, based on the local demographics and competition.
