Pros
Told during the interview that I would have potential for becoming a manager; also told that they're picky who they hire and that they only hire the best. Management seemed excited about me and said I had potential initially, and were really nice initially...but they were desperate for employees. Was hired on at $7.75 because they thought I had management potential. The regular customers can be great and are nicer than the management. Unlimited free drinks during your shift. Half-priced food during your breaks.
Cons
Management says inappropriate things about other employees to new employees (said that one worker was a "raging homosexual," said that another was "slow"). Some employees aren't always put on the schedule, so you have to call your manager daily to see when you're working next, which means you can't plan your social life at all. The management can initially seem charming, and will be charming to the customers, and yet say and do things to the employees. My biggest complaint is that the management is unrealistic in their expectations. Employees would be told to do one task (Drop the empanadas! Put out the salsa! Train this person on frying!), only to, one second later, be told (either by the same or a different manager) to do another task (No, drop the churros! Sweep the parking lot! Wash dishes!), only later to be asked why the first task wasn't finished. Not everyone abides by the rules. Not all employees pay for their own food. Not all employees wear gloves at all times, or change their gloves between tasks. Cleanliness in general was questionable, from people not always wearing gloves, to the "dishwasher" spewing out water onto food, to not all the preparation tools getting properly washed. Drive-thru timing is huge (70% of business is from the drive-thru), yet because they have such a high turnover rate and a constant influx of new employees, they don't adequately train you, especially on drive-thru, and they wonder why you're not comfortable running drive-thru by yourself. They will send out an experienced employee to do trash duty while you struggle by yourself in drive-thru when you're new. They time drive-thru orders and get upset when the orders take too long. And drive-thru is difficult- you have to know the register and the menu before you can really do drive-thru, plus you have to decipher what the customers are saying through the earpiece, plus take money and get drinks at the SAME TIME. It's difficult being a new employee and doing that. When the RGM would be making food and have gloves on and we needed the register key, we would have to reach into his pants pocket to get it...that's gross and unprofessional. The managers don't allow us to follow the online training. I was never even allowed to finish it, even though I was supposed to. The online training said to never let anyone, including managers, use your drawer, and yet cashiers have no say over who else uses their drawer.
