Pros

Nice enough people there. Plus I didn't have to work very hard; actually I didn't have to work at all.

Cons

Terribly unorganized, pay is way below average, although I didn’t earn what little I was paid. I was employed 8 months, and worked 0 days. I was originally hired to work as a Business Analyst on 1 of several projects at BOA in Jersey City. I was told that they like having “locals” as BAs. Met with the Engagement Manager & we hit it off immediately, despite or varied backgrounds. But a more senior manager expressed interest in me, so he had to fill positions with other people. That other position never materialized & BOA started having budget & regulatory issues. So, I was left w/o a project. They seemed to try to get me onto another project & occasionally they would send me on an local interview in my region. I would either ace the interview, but the project was cancelled, or it was for a position I was clearly not a fit for. Despite having told them on my interview that I would not relocate, I was told that if I did not consider relocating, I would be let go. Relocation is fine for ex-pats, but they cannot expect a person with a house & a family to move every 1-2 years. I even offered to take short term projects elsewhere in the US, but they would not even pay to fly me home 1x a month. I know it sounds cool that I was getting paid for not working, but the stress was a killer, and my technical skills were getting soft. Plus, how do you list that position on your resume, or explain it on an interview without looking bad? Oh yeah; and good luck trying to get one of the HR people in Edison to return a call or email.

Pros

Good base pay for doing practically nothing

Cons

I accepted a position with TCS as my first job out of college being given the impression I would be involved in software development. They bring everyone in for a training period at their campus in Ohio and give lessons on agile, devops, and coding languages, which seemed like they intend for their employees to be involved in the development cycle. When I got to my company of contract, I was put in a basement that had not been modeled since the early 90's to do application support. The managers assured me this was the way that people start in development when obviously it was not. After several months at my new job doing real development, I can confidently say the managers and account did not have the slightest clue what they were doing, or were knowingly trying to deceive me. The recent graduates I worked with still believed our managers even though they were still doing HR work for half a year. When I left the job, I was no better a developer than when I joined. I would have been worse if I did not keep studying in my free time. Some people from my orientation batch moved their entire families to locations for projects only to arrive and be told the project did not exist! The only star they got was for pay out-weighing the work being done. If you are an American-born citizen looking to have a career in software development, stay away as far as possible from this company.

Pros

Big company contracts, decent benefits

Cons

CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP! Did I mention they are cheap? They also do not care one bit about your career aspirations or goals. Just try to slam you into whatever account they have a need and too bad for you if it's not a good fit. It's all about billing folks. That's all they care about.
