Pros

TaxSlayer is a family run company that values their employees. Salary and benefits are above average. Opportunities to advance are also above average as the company is still growing.

Cons

The only con to working at TaxSlayer would be the long hours that are required to be worked during tax season. It is expected though, as the company is a tax software company.

Pros

If you are local to the Augusta, Ga area TaxSlayer is a respected company and looks fantastic on your resume. Most of the employees are friendly and willing to help. Professional workplace where you can learn a lot about working in a corporate environment. Above average benefits. Decent medical insurance, standard 401k with vesting after 3 years, an all expense paid trip somewhere tropical every year and bonuses (even though they are small and they could afford WAY more).

Cons

Astonishingly low pay. I can't stress this enough. The seasonal agents only make a few dollars less per hour, but full time employees have significantly more responsibility. The pay to work ratio is WELL below industry standard. Unreasonable expectations during tax season. There is no work life balance during tax season. You can work extra hours every week and they will still expect more from you. If you do not volunteer your time, they will incorporate mandatory overtime. I would caution anyone considering a role at this company to carefully consider the impact on their personal life before accepting a job offer. Not many opportunities to advance. If you start in consumer, you will probably never leave. Advancement within consumer is essentially an arbitrary title, additional responsibility and the same pay. Unless your dad works there.
