Pros

I have worked for a number of companies in the past as well as the Federal Government for a number of years and I would have to say that Technomics takes the cake in terms of the most enjoyable yet challenging experience. Technomics is a small company with a solid potential of growth. Their niche is providing federal clients the necessary information/tools to make better decisions faster. The federal budget environment has changed over the years and Technomics has changed to adapt to the ever increasing competitive market by their recent acquisitions of the new President and CFO. These gentleman bring a track record of success and the skills/charisma to foster growth and change. I have known through all my years working and supporting for the Federal Government that everybody will not embrace change. Truth be told, business strategies needs to be changed due to the reduction of government fiscal funding targeting contractor support. Either you are in it or you are out. I have read some of the negative reviews and IMO the reviewers did not believe in the new business strategy and/or the reviewers were targeting the past HR director who is no longer with the company. You can't expect growth when you work with the same clients over the years. You can't expect to walk to a client and have funding fall in your lap easily anymore...the times has changed. With the change I have noticed business development with new clients and past clients with a diverse range of work not strictly cost estimating/analysis (e.g., program management, acquisition, and systems engineering). Another thing I love about Technomics is the CEO takes every single opportunity to engage with his employees. The CEO is knowledgeable of all of his employees projects and makes himself available to discuss any new ideas. The company is also about giving back to the community and offers a great training program. I recommend this company to anybody who is looking for opportunities to obtain diverse experience working in a wide range of projects.

Cons

Monthly parking dues, however, this comes with the territory working in the city. Company is working with building management on more favorable rates.

The Technomics I know

Pros

I am relatively new to Technomics (just over 2 years), so I don’t have the long history that many others have and can’t comment on how things used to be in the old days. I can however say that the negative reviews I read here do not reflect the Technomics I know and love. Yes, my understanding is Technomics at some point had outgrown itself. As a result, our management team struggled to operate in the ever changing, increasingly competitive market. Changes were made, led by our CEO. The fact that he recognized the need to change and was arguably the person most impacted, in my book, makes him a courageous leader. By the way, how many CEOs nowadays know or care about what projects his/her employees are working on? And I’m not talking about superficial involvement. The guy more often than not would dive right in and help develop methodologies and approaches. When he reviews our work products, we actually get substantive feedback (sometimes more than we like!). I have what appears to be a highly competitive salary (thanks, glassdoor), I have great benefits (including a very generous leave policy) and I get great learning opportunities. I get to do challenging work. When I need help, there are plenty of experts around I can go to for help. If I ever decide to finally get my graduate degree, I get great tuition assistance. Even though I am a “junior”, I get to interact directly with my clients. I am encouraged to speak my mind with them (based on analytical rigor of course), with my colleagues and with the management team. And they seem to appreciate it when I do. As for company performance, we seem to have strong consistent results, even in the last two years. While many in our field seem to be shrinking in size and cutting benefits left and right, we continue to grow. But is everything perfect? No, of course not. What company is? At least I know in our small close-knit company, someone always appreciates me doing good project work and doing what I can to try to make us better. So honestly, I cannot be happier.

Cons

There is a small minority still dwelling on ancient history!

Pros

Decent benefits, company is passionate about its field of work, recent hiring of a new president and turnover of HR leadership sounds like it has been a positive step forward.

Cons

Horrible company culture fostered by upper management. Bad mouthing and undermining of coworkers for personal gain was tolerated and encouraged. Disagreeing views on company policy were encouraged but resulted in punishment if you spoke up. Incompetent people were kept in upper management for far too long. Favoritism is played towards anyone who attended a particular university.
