Pros
- I enjoyed the company of my immediate coworkers and friends who worked at the firm. There were many cool, fun people under 30. - Many of my previous co-workers are still great advocates for me today. - Great parties - Excellent business/consultant-type coaching for associates. They have a development program for new young hires. - Career advancement is very possible if you buy into the company culture. Promotions come quickly if you bill a ton of hours, perform moderately well, and suck up to upper management. You can be successful with minimal talent or technical skills if you drink the Kool-Aid. - The health/dental/vision insurance benefits are great.
Cons
- Most people are more interested in doing "important" work than they are in doing important work well. - Do not come if you hope to build your technical skills in data analysis or data science. Nobody is doing interesting statistics with meaningfully large datasets. A multiple regression analysis using 100 observations would be considered "highly informative." The most sophisticated data work is building a SQL server for less than a gigabyte of data. - All the clients are moronic government offices filled from top to bottom with rock-dumb idiots. - Can be cliquey.
