Pros

Good hours. Most staff are friendly and easy to work with. Raises and promotions are based on managements idea of who and not on how an individual performs.

Cons

Salaries are not competitive with the private sector. 401K match is very low.

If you find your niche and work well with others you will be able to get a sense of accomplishment with your assigned tasks. In most groups, it is not to hard to get time off without repercussions.

Cons

CIO is a bully. This filters down into management culture. Always being reminded not to have any overtime, yet employees are under the gun to get it done. Training is offered, but it is geared toward either entry level tech positions or project management. Everyone is "valued", meaning average employee, no raise no matter what you achieve.
