Pros

Great benefits, although the health benefits have become more expensive and offer less coverage these days, working hours are flexible, generally coworkers are a good group of people.

Cons

Old fashioned management styles in many agencies, the "densification", the state word for putting too many workers in too small a space, has been a real morale buster, and the drastic reductions in workforce have all taken a toll.

Good Pay, Good Benefits, Numerous Training Opportunities

Cons

Working overtime on a routine basis, being on-call several days in a row, travelling far distances using personal vehicle, dealing with hostile families but no self-defense training, difficult to promote due to internal political behaviors amongst management
