Pros

Salary plus commission unlike a lot of sales positions that are commission only.

Cons

The list is long but, I will start with the fact that you are to find your own leads, have no administrative or managerial support and the service is so poor that you lose most of the customers you pick up. Although you are considered an Outside Sales Person, they require you to come in for daily 8 a.m. meetings which don't allow you to get out in the field, where you are expected to visit at least six customers a day, until 10 a.m. You have to write your own proposals as there is no administrative support, which will take up your evening through 9-10 p.m.. Did I mention that there are also random afternoon or evening meetings that are called at the last minute? Telephone calls from the Branch Manager at 5:30 -6:30 p.m. (yes, on the days that began with the 8:00 a.m. meeting). You also have to set up your service appointments by contacting the service manager directly and he is unlikely to take your call in a timely manner, if at all. Oh, service technicians are so overbooked until they make the decision to skip your account and you have NO recourse with the service manager. There is no commission on accounts after the first year and if your commission exceeds a certain amount, they split up your payments. They only contribute to health insurance benefits of employee so, if you have a family, you will be unable to afford health insurance for them as premiums run about $1100.00 a month.

Pros

Terminix is good for the individual that is comfortable working outdoors and building relationships with customers. Due to Terminix's large customer base, each technician is assigned a service route, which will usually be centralized to a certain area, usually a 10-15 mile radius, so travel time between stops is USUALLY not a major issue. Main upsides to working at Terminix included use of a company vehicle, with all gas expenses paid for while working, as well as the ability to work independently and one on one with customers

Cons

The biggest challenge to be faced working with Terminix, from my experience, is the extreme lack of assistance from management while working in the field. Technicians are often left to their own resources, which was mostly due to the low number of service managers overseeing such a large base of technicians. Regardless of urgency, it was not uncommon for management to take up to two days to return a phone call.

Pros

You basically have your own business here. There is no ceiling on how much you can make, you just need to have the drive to succeed and the willingness to stay in contact with your customers.

Cons

Attics in Florida can get really hot and a large territory can cut into how many people you see per day.
