Pros

Pretty family oriented you can pretty much come and go as you please, depending on manager, as long as you get your work done. Taking time off is not a problem. The people for the most part are very helpful and friendly. Very interesting product LVAD. The tuition reimbursement is not to bad 10k a year but you have to ask for the additional $ they will try and low ball you at 8K.

Cons

Huh where to start ? a lot of the mid level management do not carry the technical background to run engineering departments , i.e. chemist and biologist managing mechanical engineering principal driven departments. Mid level management lacks any testicular fortitude to make a simple decision. The upper level management has so much infighting to see who has the biggest DI$% they actually encourage departments not to work with one another. Upper level management attempts to keep issues with the product in the field a secret from engineering staff and then expects amazing fixes with product issues after providing only limited information (purposely) so one department looks worst than the other. This is a traditional Japanese company, i.e. not Toyota or Honda, the product design all takes place in Japan so getting a design change to occur even if it will correct re occurring issues with the product is not possible no matter how correct it is. If you press the issues about changing designs to product you will be fired !!! that is no lie or exaggeration ! The pride is down right ignorance, and arrogance. This is a place that does not want a thinker just a doer, i.e. The nail that sticks out get hammered. Personnel are not fired for performance in this company it is 90% personal reasons that people are let go here. There is absolutely no professional development set forth for personnel you can go to some training courses but if some one in upper management does not want you to go even if it is directly related to your job you are not going. Getting day to day activities done can become a daunting task to say the least simple document changes can take 3 weeks to 3 months to get completely signed off on. This can largely be attributed to the incompetence of management, see 1st paragraph. To make matters worst there is excessive management they even have personnel who are carrying manager titles that do not have a single person reporting to them. If you are good at B.S. ing and playing the butt kiss game this is the place for you, a good place to get some good technical background on a very technical product in the medical device community though how technical your understanding becomes is totally up to you. A stepping stone company at best !

Pros

Good pay, good benefits, they care about the employees and treat them better than most of the other places I have worked. They try to promote from within when they are able, and I have witnessed this many times since I have been employed here. They have picnics and parties for associates and thier families. Year end bonuses for everyone. I researched the company before I took my job here, they had double digit growth for the 4 years prior. I feel pride when I go to work, because I know that what we do here helps save lives every day. It's a good feeling to be happy to go to work.

Cons

Employees have had it good for too long. Many are spoiled and entitled. They have no grasp of the real world and are quite convinced that they can run the company better than those in charge. Typical I guess, but they need to quit making it everyone elses reponsibility to make them feel positive.
