Brilliant people with inconsistent leadership at the top
Pros
Driven and brilliant coworkers all over the place, great upward mobility for those that are results oriented. Flat structure that actually invites open collaboration across orgs. Always something new to learn, and you are provided the resources (and encouraged) to do so independently. Great health benefits.
Cons
Extreme pivots in your objectives and resources based on the whims of senior leadership - or, lets face it, the whims of the CEO. There is being a nimble org and then there is just being sloppy at change management; Tesla leadership often leans towards the latter and kills morale (and then kills customer experience). Your role and your boss will change multiple times per year making it hard to build lasting relationships & trust. Significant variance in performance expectations depending on your senior leader - common example: if you have a sales-background manager / director, service expectations are muddy and low performers are tolerated. If service background, very high expectations but more support etc.
