All the cons of a big bank without any of the perks

Pros

Things can always be worse

Cons

TCB does not treat their employees with respect or listen to their concerns. They got a contract to renovate a new office space for really cheap during the pandemic. When the job market was soaring, they offered a hybrid work schedule with the possibility of full remote in the future to attract people. Then when the job market tanked, they decided to force every employee to be in the office every single day with no exceptions. They also planned for a higher rate of attrition last year, so they changed the job title for about 7 managers to individual contributors, even though they have the same direct reports and responsibilities. They didn't want to pay for severance, so they just bullied some higher paid employees hoping they would quit. The health insurance is also dreadful. There's only a single, high-deductible plan that has the worst coverage I've ever seen.

Pros

Salary is alright. Cant think of anything.

Cons

The department and the team I am in lacks a well qualified management. It is run like a mom and pops business. Alarming lack of professionalism from the leadership. People that are friends with management will outlast people that actually do the job. Micromanagement. This is a bank and is run like a bank even if you are in a non-banking tech department. There is no work life balance. No flexibility. People have to ask for permission to leave 15 minutes early. This very likely depends on your leadership but this is what I have experienced. Overall, this is not really an employer that values its employees that much. Very penny pinching approach. dont want to spend money on training. or anything besides salary. You exepect to go to a tech conference while working here? Forget it. Flexibility? what is that? There is no culture. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Pros

The people were nice; however most of them are gone now. The pay was good.

Cons

The bank has deteriorated into a God awful mess under the leadership/regime of Rob Holmes. Most of the talented and dedicated staff have either resigned or been fired to make room for Rob’s yes-men. Rob’s inexperience in running a bank has been painfully obvious. Management has completely overloaded its employee with an unreasonable workload. If you are looking for an employer who is fair, appreciative of your work effort and respectful of your time for family then stay away from TCB!
