Pros

Flexible with your class schedule and close in proximity to classes. Everyone is friendly yet professional. Overall great work environment.

Cons

You start at minimum wage and it is practically impossible to get a raise. Also it is difficult to work more than 15 hours per week.

There are Health and optional Dental benefits for full-time employees. Additionally, those who are looking to take courses at TXST can potentially get reimbursed for the tuition of that course (additional fees not included).

Cons

Incredibly low pay compared to other TXST offices/departments; Odd dress code that allows flip flops with slacks, but not jeans with blazers; VA office is treated like the unwanted "red-headed step-child"

Pros

Tremendous potential to be a "rising star." Students for the most part are loyal fans to their alma mater.

Cons

Level of achievement is barely secondary level among most undergraduates. Some (less than 2% from my experience with upper level undergrads) are working at collegiate levels. Too much hand-holding of students by faculty. Department in which I work lacks transparency. Very little colleaguery. Egos and class division prevail. As research increases, teachers (for whom this university has been known) are becoming persona non-grata.
