Free housing as an RA Work with and befriend a large variety of people Make lifelong friends Gain experience managing students similar to managing apartments

Your voice/feedback falls on deaf ears You will NOT be appreciated or seen as valuable to Housing; you are expendable in their eyes You are on the front lines handling students, ensuring they're safe and comfortable, working on-call nights and weekends, and likely responding to emergency situations (trespassers, suicidal ideation, domestic violence to name a few possibilities) It is very difficult to separate yourself from the job; you live where you work where you study

Great campus, decent culture, I guess....

Cons

Too many department politics, withheld info upon hire about my position. I was hired almost immediately after I graduated with my MS(May, 2017) as a lecturer. I got hired for a position that the department knew they were going to abolish at the end of summer 2017. This information was not presented to me at the time of hire and I relinquished another position to take on this one.
