Pros

Low living cost is a definitely merit. Purchasing a house will not be a problem by working five or more years there. Commute is not a problem, only fifteen to twenty minutes maximum.

Cons

Not much interesting things are there. Very far from major big cities such as Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Santa Fe, etc. All of them more than five and a half hours.

Pros

Decent pay for city of Lubbock. Good state of Texas benefits. Really good work/life balance when factoring in leave time policies. Solid, friendly management.

Cons

Limited upward mobility, depending on department. Pay could be better.
