Pros

Good job security as long as you do your job well. Cybersecurity also has new retention bonuses, after your first year you can sign a contract to stay another year and if completed they give you a bonus of I think 5% or so. Great work life balance. Not expected to connect your personal phone to the mass communications like Teams and such. And management really seems to push that if you work extra, get it documented for additional time off (salary so there is no OT).

Cons

A big drawback is the lack of pay raises and other bonuses. There is not even yearly cost of living raise. IF you do a good job and get a great performance review, you still do not get a raise. Raises are decided by the state legislature for all state employees. There is also high turn around it seems in the tech jobs within this organization.
