Pros

Good benefits. Depending on office, you may get good mgmt. Services and programs offered can make a difference in people's lives. Opportunity for trainings/CEU.

Cons

Depending on office, you may get horrible mgmt (I've seen and experienced both). No recognition, promotion or raise/merit for those with additional licenses/certifications. Work can be stressful. Numbers-driven, including high caseload # assigned per counselor and needing to meet certain numbers and requirements. During telework, there really is no universal electronic case management/filing system, so a bit behind on technology and going paperless. You also do not get paid enough for the amount of work you do.
