the textron company has 10's of thousands of employees. You are a number on a spreadsheet to management, You will be punished for working efficiently. In part due to the government contract nature of the work, you need to track hours precisely, so if you complete tasks quicker, you either need to find something else to fill your time, or pretend to work. Pretending to work is as easy as just being on site. It was common for employees to walk around and just chit chat for hours every day. Most people also take lunch at their desks so they can work by "reading" emails, and go home earlier because they "worked" through lunch. Most early career employees accepted a sign on bonus with a 2 year clawback and company matched 401(k) investments are not fully vested until 4 years! This should tell you all you need to know about the company's expected turnover rates. Most of these employees are counting down the days until they are free to take their earned money and leave.

Focus only on new talent, but once you are in you are basically forgotten about. Very old philosophy in how things are done. Have a hard time getting out of their own way to progress into modern processes / technology.
