Pros

- Excellent development opportunities for early career engineers. You get handed a lot of responsibilities off the bat which a senior engineer should really be taking care of - Reasonably good day-to-day environment. Mind your own business and most of the time people won't bother you (with some exceptions)

Cons

- Almost everyone there is either in their early-mid 20s or their 50s. They have a turnover rate that makes most defense companies blush - losing about 3-4% of the engineers in that division per month (not year!) - They have a questionable idea of what the role of Level 1-2 engineers are, and will dump excess responsibilities on and rate employees poorly for not acting like a successful senior engineer while dumping senior responsibilities on them - Pay is about 10-20% lower than most defense contracters (NGC, Raytheon, etc.) and the benefits aren't competitive (high-deductible insurance plan was the only choice when I was there, 401k was mediocre, not much else)

Pros

This company really does value their employees and actively promotes a work life balance compared to other places where work/life are just words to make them sound better. Most of the people I've met and worked with have been great people. You do need to stick it out for a few years before you can start moving up and around within the company because they tend to hire a lot of "new to the workforce" employees in order to give them experience, which is great. but they tend to leave because they can get higher paying jobs elsewhere. It just like most companies in regards to management, some are good and some are bad. The benefits are on point for a government contractor.

Cons

The pay and raises could be a lot better. The mandatory 4/10 hour every other week sucks. There really aren't many opportunities to move to other positions within the company, so you are fairly limited to just "steps" up in title. Nothing ever changes. No opportunity for telework. No opportunity to move up from a hands on employee to management.
