Pros
The work is interesting and meaningful, but your experience will vary tremendously depending on the group you are assigned. The Textron Innovation Projects are a fantastic opportunity if you have time, energy, and desire to participate. You can either (a) get one day a week carved out for a set number of months to produce something that the company owns, or (b) compete with other engineers for a cash prize.
Cons
Occasional instabilities when government projects ebb and flow; software quality would sometimes be over-emphasized way too much (very little gets done) or way too little (way too buggy). There were times when we were given very little warning for business trips for us or our team members.
