My time at the Alan Turing Institute was nothing short of dreadful. The management team lacked basic organisational and leadership skills, creating a chaotic and stressful work environment. Their approach to managing the workload was completely disorganised, which often left employees overwhelmed and frustrated.
The workplace atmosphere was toxic, largely due to the management's tendency to use their authority to silence employees. Constructive feedback was not welcomed; instead, any attempt to provide it was met with hostility. This created an environment where only those who blindly agreed with management were valued, leading to a culture of fear and complacency.
Additionally, the management team displayed very poor people skills and frequently exhibited negative attitudes towards staff. They created a school-like atmosphere, where it felt like they were always on the lookout for reasons to dismiss employees they didn't personally like or those who stood up for themselves. This constant threat of dismissal added to the already high stress levels and contributed to an incredibly high turnover rate.
The oppressive environment took a serious toll on my mental health and made it nearly impossible to perform my duties effectively. Overall, the toxic culture and poor management made this job unbearable. I strongly advise against working in this team.
