      Pros

      Amazing science takes place at the Broad, no doubt about that. The bolder your idea, the better. Great place for trainees.

      Cons

      Very controlling of information. Layoffs are frequent and without warning. It brings in tons of money and then eliminates important roles. Why?

      Lots of smart, passionate coworkers. Lots of opportunities to contribute to high-profile science. Exposure and access to new technologies before they hit the market. Good facilities and location.

      Cons

      Increasingly fragmented community due to internal competition between labs and platforms. Size of grants and frequency of publications more important than quality of science. Limited career development for non-academic staff.
