High-impact science in a (sometimes) chaotic environment

Pros

The opportunity to change the world. Great collaborative science where, for the most part, science is the most important aspect of the work. A great deal of independence is possible, enabling creative thinking. Successful people at the Broad tend to be more self-starters.

Cons

Figuring out how everything is organized. Sometimes not the most transparency in decision-making. Career development and advancement has always been an issue, which leadership seems to be working on, but progress is slow.

Genius Scientists, Huge Egos, Awful HR

Pros

Great Science. Great technological resources. Brilliant coworkers. Never dull. Great stepping stone to open other doors.

Cons

The trouble with people curing cancer is that they all know they're curing cancer and are sure everything they're doing is more important than niceties like professional courtesy or work-life balance. HR is truly awful.
