Very bright people while also not being a cut throat and highly competitive environment like most of its peers firms. If you work hard and have the right attitude, you are granted opportunity and space to grow relatively quickly.

Cons

The firm probably moves at a slower pace overall relative to many of its peers. Leadership has lofty goals to grow all three business lines but the firm is still quite siloed and fragmented. While there have been improvements on this front, Carlyle has a lot of catching up to do to present as a unified and holistic manager.
