Pros

- Working with really smart, motivated individuals - Meaningful and ethical work that is genuinely helping people - Networking - Professional development stipend - Courtesy scholarship at Emory

Cons

- Unrealistic expectations of support staff - Environment that rewards/commends working while sick, working long hours - Lack of opportunities for advancement - Inadequate compensation (especially given cost of living in Atlanta) - Fast-paced environment that can be chaotic and stressful depending on your department - juggling too many projects/deadlines/grant applications

Pros

Highly educated coworkers who care a lot about their subject matters.

Cons

Massively underfunded programs and underfunded staff. HR system tied to Emory is outdated and confusing. People cannot get hired into their appropriate pay scales because Emory does not count part-time work, internships, and consultancies (all super common and valuable in international fields) as work experience.
