Pros

-decent salary and bonus for the poistion and lack of education required -strong sales training

Cons

-long hours, including more weekends than promised when hired -incompetent and trashy upper management -only concerned with the bottom line -hard to reach sales goals if you are at one of their more neglected communities -maintenance standards are terrible; keep "repairing" appliances long past their useful life and then seem surprised when it breaks again in 3 weeks -terrible reputation among renters which creates unhappy office atmosphere -constant revolving door of managers and sales associates

Pros

Depending on property there is good money to be made. If you are liked by the right people advancement is possible.

Cons

There is no human resource department for a reason. Its like a sorority run by a fraternity. Unprofessional enviornment. They rip off there residents.

Do not believe the sales pitch!

Pros

You get holidays off and sometimes there are good incentives for performance.

Cons

If your property is struggling you are required to work Mon-Sat and however many hours necessary after that, be prepared for 60+ hours a week. If your property isn't struggling but you have to work Saturdays per scheduling requirement you do not get a day off during the week. During your interview they tell you being a property manager is like running your own business, but they micromanage everything. They only care about how filled the property is, whatever it takes. They say they want integrity but so many of the other property managers cut corners and they didn't care because they cared about the fact that the property was filled to capacity. You also have to follow a sales pitch for phone calls and craigs list postings. You get shopped by phone and email to ensure you follow the sales pitch. Do not let me get started on the requirements of Craigs List postings. The worst part is dealing with the residents because they hate the Connor Group and their dealings with cable, water, trash (formerly Heartland) they take their anger out on you.
