Pros

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Techs are not lazy and are willing to help RNs. Hospital is very focused on patient satisfaction and overall improvement - Going 90! I really enjoy coming into work :)

Cons

Staffing (yawn). No RN wants 5-6 patients. When things get busy, which they do often, it's nearly impossible to provide a level of care that's equal to all patients. I sometimes wonder if management has experience having 5-6 patients to care for, with q2h pain management, q4 assessments, documentation, admissions and discharges, sending your patient to the OR... on and on...

Pros

- GWU Hospital has a rich history; truly enjoyed working here and felt a great sense of pride working with such a reputable organization. - Tremendous impact on local community providing amazing medical care. - Cutting edge facility offering extensive medical services such as transplant, cardiac care, etc. - Women hold several leadership positions, including the CEO, Kim Russo. Her leadership style exemplifies strength, integrity, and respect in the work place. - Department leadership was solid, cared about their teams, and willingly collaborated with HR. - Internal transfer / growth opportunities.

Cons

- Extremely busy hospital = challenging HR workload. - Two HR partners carry a very heavy load with approximately 2500 employees. Standard employee relations and misc. HR responsibilities, but also required to be actively involved in time consuming work place safety committee, employee engagement committee, and multiple additional special initiatives. - Work load never lightens and always feels like a three alarm fire drill. Difficult to maintain quality results with the work volume and have work / life balance.
