      Pros

      OSU is an excellent place to be exposed to a variety of cultures, there is high emphasis placed on understanding diversity. Cancer research in collaboration with James Cancer is excellent, there are many exciting clinical trials going on. The benefits are decent. There are a lot of resources for employees to advance in their field as well as to do their job correctly.

      Cons

      Postdoctoral researcher salaries are below NIH recommendations but the expectations are very high. Some research buildings are not updated, equipment in some laboratories is ancient. Parking is limited and very expensive (same cost for a postdoc with $35,000 as for a doctor with $100,000).

      -Work/life balance (flexible schedules, work from home, etc.) -Excellent benefits (health care, adoption assistance, discount programs, free tuition, child care, etc.)

      Cons

      -Top down management -People "on the ground" aren't valued -Lack of mobility career-wise -Parking (lack of and cost)

      Pros

      Many different career paths. Good benefits. Students are wonderful and make you feel young again. Columbus is a very liveable place.

      Cons

      Pay is OK, not great. Conservative thinking. Slow to make changes. State support is on a steady decline. Management is sometimes opaque.
