Pros

Hiring process with company and school system was easy to follow.

Cons

Would have loved to meet the company HR team in person for the hiring process but it was convenient to be able to do it all online. Helpful staff that helped me all throughout the hiring process

Pros

I have been a School Psychologist since 1996. I have worked full-time, part-time, and as a contractor. I am currently onboarding with Stepping Stones. This means, I have interviewed and been "hired" by the school district. I just have to finish up all the background checks, etc. In my experience, contracting companies can be slow moving (not responding to emails or calls in a professional time frame), disorganized and not deliver on pay (without significant follow-up to get paid). My experience with Stepping Stones thus far, has been refreshingly different! My Career Services Manager, Diego Guzman, is making Stepping Stones really stand out among all other contracting companies. I contacted Diego Guzman and within an hour, he had a job interview set up for me with a local school district. I was interviewed and hired the very next day! Along the way of this onboarding process, Diego Guzman has been an extremely effective communicator. He is always available and responsive, mostly getting back to me immediately. In addition, he is always polite, encouraging and respectful to me as a professional !! He gives Stepping Stones the personal and professional touch that we all want. In addition, Stepping Stones has a portal that looks organized and professional. I highly doubt - given the look of the portal- there will be hiccups in receiving pay like in other contracting agencies. I can't wait to continue with Stepping Stones!

Cons

Although I am new to Stepping Stones, I have not experienced any major "cons" so far. I would say the pay initially quoted to me is NOT competitive with other contracting agencies. The initial pay offered to me was a little insulting; however, with some negotiation, I am satisfied, at least for now, with what we have agreed on.

Pros

Please read if you are thinking about being a recruiter or educator thinking filling a position through Stepping Stone- I took a position with Stepping Stone after holding down a successful sales role for 5+ years with my previous company with the hopes of advancing my career and growing my skillset while bringing all the skills I learned to a new company. They seemed to have a tight-knit culture and although the turn over was high. The few that have been there a while seemed to really like it.

Cons

It did not take long to realize that the training program was non-existent, they had me shadow current employees and gave me a large manual to read (it’s out of date with their current systems by the way)- after that, you are on your own. Honestly- I feel as though this wouldn’t be that bad, I am a fan of “trial by fire”. Something I learned about sales is that you must be able to fail in order to learn and grow. As a recruiter for The Stepping Stone- I was responsible for trying to fill positions with qualified candidates- but then also meant to manage those that were placed with any needs they had concerning their employment. The problem was that oftentimes the clients who filled a position would call to ask questions related to their employment that should be directed to human resources but everything was so un-organized here that there was no way to connect them with support to get their questions answered. Let alone my own human resource questions. All my superiors that I asked to help either gave me a different solution to tell our clients or tried to pass the buck to ask a different department for the answer, it often seemed like there was no clear way to actually serve our clients with the assistance they needed outside of being placed for the positions we filled. I would not recommend working here if you want to be surrounded by the support you need to be successful as a recruiter. It is clear very quickly why they cannot hold on to top recruiters for more than a year. To those educators that are looking to fill a position- I would suggest thinking long and hard because in my time there- it seemed like there was more lip service than actual support for your important role within your schools.
