Pros

Opportunity to work with a large construction company.

Cons

It's evident that people in shared services are treated as second-class citizens. This includes employees in HR, legal, career development, marketing and admin roles. While the pre-con and con side receive benefit upon benefit (eoy bonuses, project bonuses, ability for promotion and growth) employees in shared services do not. For the few years I was employed at Walsh, the people in my department received a raise once. Our projects remained the same year and year without any regard to professional development, burn out etc. Contractually designated vacation days were taken away, there was no consistency in yearly reviews or exit-interviews. Overall, I found it to be a very difficult work environment and feel that others did as well based on how many people resigned around the same time I did.

Pros

One of the best construction companies to work for. Several opportunities and experience are given during the job duration. Salary and benefits are wonderful. Job education are top-notch.

Cons

The company is currently going through a big change. IT can't keep up with growing demands. Marketing department going through a drastic overhaul with no clear plan. Corporation is so big, employees have a hard time getting an answer or finding the right person to talk to.
