Pros

You will gain a lot of experience. There is a good choice of treatment materials. You have access to a laptop and iPad, something not all companies provide.

Cons

Treatment schedule is way too filled. You will have double the number of patients to treat for the number of hours you are there with a mandatory 1 lunch hour break in the middle of the day. You sit very close to the next treating therapist and their patient. With a single room of therapists and patients altogether, it can be very hard to hear your patient and they get easily distracted. There are some private rooms you can use, but you have to scramble at the end of the day to figure out what times you want to use it and write your name on the sheet stuck to the room’s door. You have no documentation time unless you do your note during the session, which isn’t always possible with some of the patients you work with. Therefore, some therapists do documentation during lunch or at home. There is very low PTO available. Some of the practices including a packed schedule puts the SLPs in a compromised position regarding their license.

Pros

The ability to work from home and full-time hours.

Cons

Pay, benefits are not that good, time off is basically non-existent for how hard you work, the work/life balance is lacking. When concerns about burnout and various issues affecting myself were brought to management, I felt they were not addressed or taken seriously. Upper management and “leads” appear under qualified as well as ineffective at their jobs. Also, it appears like most people in management positions are related to the owner in some way. Very weird nepotism vibe. Best decision I made for myself was getting away from this toxic employer.
