Pros

The actual creative staff—the designers, developers, and writers—are some of the most talented, hardworking, and genuine people I have ever had the privilege to work with. I have formed friendships here that I know will last for years to come. We bonded over the shared experience of navigating the agency’s "operational pivots" and the frustrations of ineffective leadership. We leaned on each other, supported each other's professional growth, and ultimately, we were each other's greatest assets.

Cons

As someone who has operated as a Design Director for years, I have seen agencies go through cycles of growth, but what is happening at Thesis Agency is a systematic dismantling of what makes a creative team functional. The primary issue here is a fundamental disconnect between executive leadership and the reality of the work. CEO Keely York and the burgeoning, unnecessary layers of middle management seem to have prioritized "operational efficiency" metrics over the actual craft and the people who produce it. This obsession with rigid, top-down decision-making—often guided by external "business expertise" that clearly doesn't understand the nuances of a creative agency—has gutted our support systems and left teams chronically overworked. The most damaging aspect has been the cycle of layoffs. We have watched as incredibly talented, competent practitioners and mentors were pushed out, leaving behind a leadership void. The "leaders" who remain are, frankly, incapable of providing the mentorship or the high-level guidance required to sustain our output. They seem more concerned with protecting their own positions than fostering the next generation of talent. The recent return-to-office (RTO) mandate was the final nail in the coffin for many of us. Forcing fully remote, out-of-state employees back into a physical office—not because of a business need, but seemingly to justify the optics of an expensive lease—is a strategic failure. In an industry where talent is our only real asset, treating people like line items in a real estate budget rather than the lifeblood of the agency is a massive oversight. When you prioritize empty office space and layers of bureaucracy over the retention of your top-tier creative talent, you lose the quality and the culture that once made the agency worth working for. I cannot in good conscience recommend this environment to any designer or creative lead looking for a place where their craft will be respected or their growth nurtured.

Pros

I made more lasting pro and personal friendships at Thesis than anywhere I've ever worked in the past 20 years. The work was fast-paced and there was always so much valuable collaboration.

Cons

With so much top-tier talent, Thesis seemed to have a challenging time transitioning out of being a production house — so the creative work wasn't mind blowing / super original. But the talent is there to make that a reality!!
