Pros

There really aren't any, unless you consider chaos and dysfunction a pro

Cons

For a company that preaches corporate wellness, there is certainly a lot of corporate unwellness happening within Thrive. The company is all about protecting their upper management, which they end up having to do a lot because despite their hefty paychecks, most of the upper management has NO idea what they are doing and aim only to please the CEO, Arianna Huffington. This results in utter chaos and dysfunction on a scale that will surely bring about the downfall of the company within the next few years. As for professional advancement, you can forget about moving up in the company. Instead of training and cultivating junior-level employees, the company chooses to exclusively hire its senior management from outside the company. Despite the tantalizing six-figure checks that initially bring them to their company, most leave within the first few months to a year. The turnover is extraordinarily high and those who stay either do it for the money, or have a personal relationship with Arianna Huffington. As a result, anyone who is NOT management must deal with a constant change or lack in leadership, making Thrive a workplace where a junior-level associate simply has no chance to learn or move up. Furthermore, Thrive Global is a sinking ship in many ways, but especially financially. Anyone that has anything to do with finance at the company has already chosen to jump ship - for good reason. I will not be surprised to see Ms. Huffington's pet project dissolve very soon. For your own sanity and well-being, I strongly suggest you look everywhere else before choosing to work at Thrive.

Thrive Global Response

We’re sorry to learn that you came away with this impression. Given our fast growth (doubling our employee base in the last six months alone), we’re proud of both our hiring from the outside and our many examples of internal advancement. We also pay close attention to the engagement and retention of our team. Turnover happens at all companies and as a fast growing startup, there’s an expected amount of experimentation and flux, especially at the beginning as new structures are being put in place. One of the most exciting parts of joining Thrive at this early stage is the opportunity to grow your career in a truly tangible way -- expanding your role, taking on additional responsibilities, learning new skills and launching new projects that you feel passionate about. We love learning together with our team and are committed to creating a supportive environment in which all employees can reach their full potential and grow both personally and professionally.

Pros

Growing quickly, exciting, well-funded, great team

Cons

Definitely a fast-paced, start-up environment, which is what I wanted. So if you don't want that, not the right place for you.

Pros

Incredibly supportive and smart people. I love working at a company where I am making a lasting positive impact on company culture.

Cons

Working at a start up can be challenging, strategy is constantly shifting and you have to wear multiple hats. While there can be times be times we have to work later, I really appreciate other coworkers checking in and making sure we stay true to Thrive values.
