Pros

Organization allows you to build your business in a way that works for you. For those complaints about commission only, well, you don't belong in the industry then because you will make far more compensation in an independent contractor position. Statutory W-2 Employee which allows for less of a tax burden at the end of the year. Investment payouts higher than industry average. Recurring revenue opportunities. Giving back to the community is encouraged and is supported by Thrivent. No limits on products you offer. Of course there are proprietary products, but once you become established, you are not limited to Thrivent only products. Always an opportunity to find the best fit for the member (proprietary and non-proprietary), unlike other proprietary organizations that do no allow that opportunity. Leadership in Colorado is incredible and the management truly cares about your success. Unique organization unlike any other in the industry. Pension plan after first year in business.

Cons

Compensation plan does change a lot. However, it seems to always work out well as the paychecks keep coming. Health insurance is expensive, but that isn't surprising given the state of the market. No national advertising campaigns. Training program is short.

Pros

Will make you glad when you find another company that better understands the financial-services industry. You will be happy when you find one, because it isn't Thrivent.

Cons

Field management lies in order to trick you into using your own money to advertise and market your practice. Then after you build it, they take it away from you. Three different managing partners did this to me. The compensation plan is so complicated it is impossible to understand. No other company in the industry has a compensation plan as complicated (and skewed towards the company) as Thrivent's. I was a conference-level producer and they treated me like dirt. Glad to be away from the toxic environment. I'm doing great now that I left this bunch of liars. There are good companies in this industry. Thrivent isn't one of them.

Pros

My experience has been that Thrivent as an organization cares about its employees. It is not perfect, since there is no perfect group of people, but it is a very good place to work and earn a living. Many can experience a good work/life balance and the emphasis on ethics/morals promotes a positive type of peer pressure. There is a real effort to volunteer and give to our neighbors and a strong focus on the Members/owners of the company.

Cons

If you do not want to mix faith, finances and your work life, you should not work here. It is normal to here faith references and it is a fundamental part of our membership bond.
