Worst managers on Earth

Pros

The environment of this company is so toxic that is impossible to see any positive thing.

Cons

No opportunity at all for growth. Worst managers a company could have. Manager is extremely unprepared for her role, has no idea what she's doing because she spends most of her time engaging on high school gossips instead of paying attention to her work. Totally divided the team with her lack of leadership and visibly provided benefits for the employees that were her personall friends. Extremely passive aggressive person with no communication skills.

Metadata department on life support!

Pros

Flexible hours. Great benefits. Good compensation. Wayne office has free hot breakfast on Fridays. Friendly staff including upper management. Everyone wants to help. Major effort underway to eliminate legacy systems.

Cons

Even though the guide products TiVo (formerly Rovi) produces depends entirely on its metadata, the Metadata department is the "black sheep" of the company. The revenue it generates is not reflected in the overall company's balance sheet. They are not in a growth pattern. There is no consistent long-term vision for Metadata. Product and customer management jump at the first opportunity without taking a close look at whether that opportunity will be profitable. PMO, Content and Product Mgmt. never reach a consensus on what that month's focus should be let alone the quarter or year. Engineering is overwhelmed with context switching as a result. Engineering is in a major shift to Boston and India. Engineering management disorganized. Promotion opportunities are limited. In the 3 years I worked there, there was only one promotion that I recall.

Pros

Great retail and operator products. Some great people trying to make those continue to succeed. Not much required of you outside of normal work hours.

Cons

New owners from Rovi are clueless on product space, yet they are demanding to call all the shots without asking for advice from the legacy TiVo employees who actually do the work but are listening to the executive managers that stayed and that made most of the mistakes in the past. People that can leave and executives that were smart are leaving in droves, those that failed with the original TiVo are being promoted by the idiot new owners.
