Pros

Your co-workers are nice and supportive.

Cons

This place is an absolute joke when it comes to treating employees fairly. You are hired "full time" but expect massive gaps in your schedule. You are expected to teach everything under the sun. I was hired for math but quickly learned to in order to have a full schedule you needed to teach, math, science, history, English. Lots of teachers teachibg outside of their area of expertise which is bad for students, especially the high costs of attending the school. Teachers are expected to pass students even when they are cleary not ready. Benefits are terrible, bare minimum with no paid federal holidays and you lose your health benefits over the summer. AVOID!

Thank you for your review. At Tilden, we do not expect Math/Science teachers to teach Humanities and vice versa. When we hire a new teacher, they list the courses they can teach. Those will be the courses the teacher will be asked to teach. Tilden doesn't expect teachers to teach any courses that they have not listed. Tilden is open throughout the school year, and teachers who teach over the summer continue to receive Tilden's contribution to their healthcare coverage. Teachers who want to take the summer off can do so and can always keep their healthcare, but don't receive Tilden's contribution to their healthcare until they resume working at Tilden in the fall.
